The history of the Cozee Shack
Since 2009 I rented. I signed a two-year lease, that turned into a four-year stay. When my lease was up, I was constantly looking for a home. My boyfriend, Mr. Awesome, and I would go and look at open houses, and schedule showings. We found a house we really loved, but the initial deal was too good to be true and it fell through. I was heartbroken. After that, every house I had looked at had something wrong with it. What can I say, I am a tad picky. Or indecisive. Or both - which are not good qualities when it's a buyer's market! Houses were selling in record time. If a house was listed one day, the next day it had 4 offers on it...I was sick of searching and ready to settle and was very disheartened.
Then one day, it happened. We went to look at a home the DAY it came on the market. It was gorgeous - too good to be true. There were 2 other showings at the same time. I don't think I even looked at everything because I knew there would be a gazillion offers on it that day. My mom was with us and called the realtor to put an offer in. I don't remember the waiting being the difficult part. Our offer was accepted...what I do remember taking forever was the inspection and the closing date. There were days that Mr. Awesome and I would pull in the driveway and go around back to sit on the porch, that would eventually, be ours! (and yes, the house was empty! we aren't that nuts - or are we!?!? Doesn't everyone do this?)
And then it happened at the end of August, I closed on my first home (technically it was the second, but that's a whole different blog). MY FIRST HOME - all mine! It is a quaint little cape cod, with beautiful gardens. I have always loved and watched all the shows on HGTV or DIY but I rented so I could never do what I really wanted. My home has such character and feels so cozy. Now I'm not gonna lie, there are some things that I cannot stand or wish that I could change right now, like my home has a lot of wood.
Let me repeat that - MY HOME HAS A LOT OF WOOD! There is wood paneling and flooring and more paneling. But it's the nice, real wood paneling. And even though it's the good stuff, there is still so. much. wood!
