the Cozee Shack

A HISTORY OF THE COZEE SHACK

Since 2009 I rented.  I signed a two-year lease, that turned into a four-year stay.  When my lease was up, I was constantly looking for a home.  My boyfriend (still thinking of a nickname) and I would go and look at open houses, and schedule showings.  We found a house we really loved, but the initial deal was too good to be true and it fell through.  I was heartbroken.  After that, every house I had looked at had something wrong with it.  What can I say, I am a tad picky.  Or indecisive.  Or both – which are not good qualities when it’s a seller's market!  Houses were selling in record time.  If a house was listed one day, the next day it had 4 offers on it…I was sick of searching and ready to settle and was very disheartened.

Then one day, it happened.  We went to look at a home the DAY it came on the market.  It was gorgeous – too good to be true.  I don’t think I even looked at everything because I knew there would be a gazillion offers on it that day.  There were 2 other showings AT.THE.SAME.TIME.  My mom was with us and called the realtor to put an offer in.  I don’t remember waiting being the difficult part.  Our offer was accepted…what I do remember taking forever was the inspection and the closing date.  There were days that my boyfriend and I would pull in the driveway and go around back to sit on the porch, that would eventually, be ours!  (and yes, the house was empty!  we aren’t that nuts – or are we!?!?  Doesn’t everyone do this?)

And then it happened at the end of August, I closed on my first home (technically it was the second, but that’s a different story).  MY FIRST HOME – all mine!  It is a quaint little cape cod, with beautiful gardens.  I have always loved and watched all the fixer upper shows on HGTV or DIY but I rented so I could never do what I really wanted.  My home has such character and feels so cozy, which is why we called it the Cozee Shack.  Now I’m not gonna lie, there are some things that I cannot stand or wish that I could change right now, like my home has a lot of wood.

Let me repeat that – MY HOME HAS A LOT OF WOOD!  There is wood paneling and flooring and more paneling.  But it’s the nice, real wood paneling.  And even though it’s the good stuff, there is still so. much. wood!
